This site is the home of Jim Anderson Preservation and Design. Jim's 26 year career as Dallas' Historic Preservation Officer gives him the experience and credentials for all types of preservation services, in Dallas, in Texas, and throughout the country.



Services Offered


Historic Preservation Consultant

As an urban planner Jim offers interpretation of local ordinances and applications for Certificates of Appropriateness and Conservation District reviews. Design services also include urban design plans and ordinance language for architecturally protected development. As an architectural historian Jim offers historical research for local designation and National Register of Historic Places listing. Local incentives and the National Register Investment Tax Credits also can obtained. Architectural Historian services include Section 106 Review and other historic environmental reviews.Historic resource surveys and property research with historical photo aquistion for historic displays also are available.

Tour Guide

As a tour guide Jim has vast knowledge and first hand experience of last 3 decades of Dallas' renaissance through historic preservation ans urban design. Driving tours include Downtown Dallas and the great urban areas that surround the central business district. Highlights can include the John F. Kennedy historic sites, the West End Historic Warehouse District, the Main Street historic district, Dallas' renowned Art's District and the Clyde Warren Deck Park over Woodall Rogers Freeway, the upscale Victory Park and Uptown neighborhoods and the funky clubs and lofts of Deep Ellum. Additional extended tours to Dallas' Swiss Avenue residential mansion district and Fair Park; the Art Deco masterpiece that was created for the 1936 Texas Centennial are available. Jim also offers walking tours of the Kennedy Sites, Main Street District, Dallas Art's District and Fair Park individually or as a stop on a driving tour.
